What Customers Say About Garmin GPS 76Cx Handheld GPS:

Garmin's user manuals, on-line help and phone support are infuriating. Unless you're a big fan of being put on hold for hours at a time I would look for a different GPS from another company. Garmin doesn't care the slightest for their customers once they have their money.

I ride in a lot of tidal areas, and it would be helpful to see when high/low tide are so I can know to enter/avoid some places. Most of where I ride is considered to be land by the maps. The software is very good, and easy to use. It's not terribly hard to get tidal information from the main menu, but It would save me some time to have it right on the information page.Overall the 76cx is a spectacular unit, and I would reccomend it for anyone who has a PWC. I have 2 small issues with the unit. I've been running the 76cx on my Seadoo for about a month now.

The fact that the unit floats has already saved me from losing it on a couple of occasions. I'm hoping to get the bluechart maps soon, but they cost as much as the unit did, so I'm hesitant to pull the trigger before trying a unit that includes them.My second issue is that you can't pull tide info into the information page. Seadoo makes a glove box cover that allows you to snap a 76 series right in, so it's always in front of me. First is that the maps that come with it aren't accurate at all. It's rugged, compact, and easy to use. I'm very happy with the screen, no matter how or where I'm riding I can always read it without much of an issue.

I can plug the unit in after a day of riding and import my tracks from where i've been.

It's fairly easy to read in sunlight which was a big concern for me since it is mounted on my motorcycle. I am still working on the features. More details of how the features work would be helpful. I would also have say its pretty durable since it went flying of my motorcycle and still worked fine.My only complaint so far would be the instructions. There's so many of them. This was such a great price.

I bought the topo map chip for the mid-west, and was blown away. bucks, but was well worth the price.

hazzards, POI's, major and forest roads, and lake contours as accurate as my new depth finder. The map chip included all boat landings, nav.

the majority of the negative reviews are form people that want a GPS for their car, (rookies). the topo map chip was [.].

If your lonely and want a GPS that talks, go get a tom tom, but if you want a serious GPS for a serious outdoors man, you won't be disappointed. I use mine exclusively for fishing and hunting, and its one of the best I've seen.

it had all of the lakes I didn't expect, as well as the ones I did, with contour lines far better (3 ft in some cases) than any DNR map I've ever seen.

This is my 3rd Garmin GPS.My loss is the freight I because delivery charges to Singapore, Asia. 1st set Amazon sent was a disappointment. The unit intermittently went off by itself, during road use/usb connection to pc.Amazon was kind enough to send me a replacement set pretty expediently and the 2nd unit has worked like a gem.
